Fire Consumes Doi Luang Chiang Dao and Hot

CityNews – The fire at Doi Luang Chiang Dao continues to burn while another flame occurred in Hot consuming over 10 rai of forest.

According to Chiang Dao Wildlife Conservation Office, during March 27th to 31st there were eight hotspots in Doi Luang Chiang Dao. Local authorities and a network of villagers have rallied up over 193 people to fight the fire. Due to difficult terrain, the team has been assisted by a helicopter in delivering water. By today, April 2nd, there is one hotspot left at Mon Phra Chan Song Glod, the largest hotspot that is difficult to control. Prakasit Rawiwan, the superintendent of Chiang Dao Wildlife Conservation Office, estimated that over 400 rai of forest has been damaged. Villagers and volunteers are adding a 2 km fire breaks to prevent the fire from spreading to the village. He added that the fire was manmade. A team was set up as look outs in case of additional eruption.

On April 1st, another fire occurred at Suan Kaew Naram in Bo Luang, Hot District. The firefighting team led by Bo Luang Mayor, a village headman and staff from Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office took about four hours to control the fire. Over 10 rai of forest was damaged.
