Employment Office Warns Employers About Hiring Illegal Migrant Workers

CityNews – Chiang Mai Employment Office has warned employee not to hire unregistered migrants.

The Chiang Mai Provincial Employment Office has started inspecting workplaces and construction sites for undocumented migrants from July 5th, after the registration period has ended.

Authorities have warned that unregistered migrants will be fined 5,000 to 50,000 baht and will be deported and banned from country for two years. The employer will face a fine of 10,000 to 100,000 baht for each illegal migrant. If there are repeated violations by the employer, they will be subject to imprisonment for no longer than one year or a fine of 50,000 to 200,000 baht, and will be prohibited from hiring migrant workers for three years.
