The Arrest of 30 Migrant Worker Leads to an Open Investigation

CityNews – Over 30 illegal migrant workers have been arrested.

On January 31st, due to illegal immigration crackdown policy by the Chiang Mai Immigration Office, police have chased down two pickup trucks in Luang Nuea, Doi Saket District. The investigation revealed that the trucks were transporting around 30 illegal migrant workers. All of them are of Burmese nationality. The drivers revealed that they were paid 5,000 to 10,000 baht to transport these migrants to work at longan farms. Police will reportedly pursue the investigation to identify the employer of this scheme.
