Over 1,800 tonnes of Waste is Produced Daily

CityNews – Local authorities are pushing for waste management.

At a meeting last week between the governor of Chiang Mai, the Chiang Mai Provincial Offices for Natural Resource and Environment and local authorities, a waste management is brought up to the topics. The Chiang Mai Provincial Offices for Natural Resource and Environment estimates that Chiang Mai produces around 1,800 to 2,000 tonnes daily.

Chiang Mai Local Administrative Office presented the waste segregation campaign which will encourage recycling market and household organic waste treatment, while Governor Supachai Iamsuwan stated that discipline is the key factor to the success in the task.

Recycle warehouse businesses stated that the competition in the market is high but it is an additional income for many families. The concerns on illegal dumping were raised but there is no conclusion to remedy the issue.
