New Governor in Town

October 7, 2012

CityNews – Thanin Suphasaen, the previous governor of Chiang Rai, has officially taken over as Chiang Mai Governor as of Saturday 6th October at 1 p.m. Driving from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai, stopping off at some holy shrines on the way to make merit, the governor officially arrived at his residence at 1 p.m. (though did not in fact turn up until two)

The first holy site visited en route to the much-anticipated arrival at the residence, was to Chang Puek Gate, followed by a visit to Wat Chiang Yeun. The Chang Peuk Gate shrine visit was to officially ask permission to enter the city by the guardians. This was followed by a visit to the Three Kings Monument where the area was filled with recruited students, officials and well wishers. Governor Thanin along with his wife Inthira, lit candles, placed flowers to the three kings before heading to the residence, where over 1000 guests had been awaiting his arrival since 11 p.m.
