The election for Chiang Mai region 3 will be an uphill struggle for the Democrat Party in this very red region of the country. Kanlayakon Jiemkitwattana, the Democrat representative for region 3, needs all the assistance she can get. So on May 24th Abhisit Vejjajiva, Siriwan Prasajaksatru, and Alongkon Ponlabut turned up in the San Kamphaeng district to campaign for votes, but things didn’t go too well for the triumvirate.
The overall campaign has been ok so far for the Democrats, however, when they arrived at San Kamphaeng market, Red Shirts turned up shouting and using strong language. In another two markets in region 3 the same happened again.
Abhisit told the media that his party is in full support of the Chiang Mai people, and although the Democrat Party might not be their first choice, they hope they will have the chance to help residents of region 3.
