Opor Boontum, 25, and also known as Phra Bantita, was formerly based at Srimuangkam temple in Mae Rim district. He was arrested near Warorot Market on Friday morning.

Five abbots were arrested in connection with the case in July. It is claimed that a gang of monks sexually abused at least 150 boys aged from around 14 to 16.

Phra Bantita was arrested last year for his alleged role in the case, but failed to show up for his court hearing. He was arrested after a charity worker spotted him buying flowers and alerted police.
