CityNews – On September 18th, the Protected Areas Regional Office 16 Chiang Mai was tasked to dispose of remains of three tigers at Chiang Mai Night Safari. They were two Bengal tigers aged 15 and 9, and an Indochinese tiger aged 6. The diagnosis showed that they all died from feline distemper.
Chiang Mai Night Safari explained that there has been a feline distemper outbreak in the area as the number of stray cats have increased. The board of directors has been notified of the matter but as the Pinkanakorn Development Agency, the organisation which runs the safari, is on the verge of being dismantled, the safari’s administration is unstable. In the meanwhile, a blessing ceremony will be held on the 20th for spiritual comfort of the public.
