We stand in the kitchen, draws dropped as we watch Chef David He Tao working his kitchen. His left hand grips a sizzling wok, flames shooting around its base, while his right hand expertly flips, tosses and then plates the dish. Working at lightning speed, this new chef from Ziyang city, Szechuan province, sends out dish after dish to The Service 1921 Restaurant & Bar, his years of expertise and training obvious.
Having begun his career at the tender age of 17 when he worked in a restaurant in Beijing, Chef David then worked at Chengdu’s Roman Hotel, an experience he said made him see that he enjoyed the challenges of working in a hotel restaurant as it had many challenging aspects to the job. Following that time, he rose to the position of Chinese Associate Chef at Blue Light Anantara Resort Emei Mountain being transferred to our fair city.
