Japanese Government Donation for Children with Disabilities in Sansai

The Government of Japan, under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Scheme (GGP), has provided funds amounting to 2,899,000 baht for “the Project for Procurement of a Bus with Wheelchair Lift for Children with Disabilities in Sansai District, Chiang Mai Province”. On 27 July 2016, Mr. Shinya AOKI, Consul-General of Japan in Chiang Mai, and Ms. Puangthong SRIWILAI, Director of Sri Sangwan Chiang Mai School, were present at the hand-over ceremony of the bus at the Sri Sangwan Chiang Mai School in Sansai District, Chiang Mai Province. Sri Sangwan Chiang Mai School is a public school for disabled children which was established in 2001. The school provides education, medical treatment and rehabilitation for children with disabilities to help them achieve self-reliance[…]of. There are approximately 300 students learning here, with a range of classes beginning from kindergarten up to high school or technical college. Almost all students reside in school dorms as they are from all over the country. In this project, the Government of Japan supported the cost of purchasing a 30-seats bus with wheelchair lift. The bus will be used for transportation for extracurricular activities and will contribute to expand chances for learning and help students to become self-reliant in social life. The Japanese government intends to continue supporting projects which contribute to self-reliance for people with disabilities through its Grant Assistance for Human Security Projects scheme (GGP).
