Tree Planting at the Scar of Doi Suthep
Member of the Armed forces were joined by local government officials and residents of Chiang Mai, including ethnic minorities planting trees at the ‘Scar of Doi Suthep’.
The National Parks Wildlife and Plants Conservation Department (Chiang Mai Office) has been assigned to manage the reforestation of the judicial residences on Doi Suthep, following a long fight between the Chiang Mai people and judicial officers came to conclusion.

Classic Thai Films Screening
The National Film and Video Committee from the The National Federation of Thai Film Associations has selected 70 outstanding films from over four thousands films that have been produced during the reign of His Majesty the late King Rama IX. Nine of these films are being screened here in Chiang Mai at SFX Cinema MAYA Lifestyle Shopping Centre, for free, between May 24th and 27th. The programme includes the Palme d’Or winner, Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, and more.
The opening ceremony was joined by the Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai and the legendary actor Sombat Metanee.
SF Corporation, GDH, KlongDinsor and ThaiHealth held a screening of a Thai romantic comedy, Brother of the Year, for visually impaired persons at SFX Cinema MAYA Lifestyle Shopping Centre.
PANNANA is available on iOS and Android, and provides audio access to numerous films. The application is user-friendly and syncs with the movie, so even if they leave the auditorium, the app will re-sync with the movie when they return.

International Workshop at Payap University
An International Conference with thematic focus on Peace process, Fair Trade Social Enterprises and Public Policy was held to explore peace-building platforms in Thailand and Myanmar. The conference was organised by Payap University’s Institute of Religion, Culture and Peace (IRCP), the World Fair Trade Organization Asia (WFTO Asia), and Women’s Education for Advancement and Empowerment (WEAVE).
Key note speakers included; Dr. Ang Tun Thet Vice Chairman of the National Economic and Social Adversary Council in Myanmar, Dr. Kai Ostwald of University of British Columbia and Director of Centre for Southeast Asia Research, Dr. Mark Thamthai Former Director of (IRCP).
Speakers in the conference segment focusing on Fair Trade and social enterprise included; WFTO Asia Board of Directors Chitra Bahadur KC and Johny Joseph, Gomer Padong of Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asia, and Michael Meallem of Centre for Social Impact.
Paralleling the conference was the Fair Trade Arts & Crafts Exhibition where beautiful Fair Trade handicrafts collection from WFTO Asia members was showcased, including WEAVE Fair Trade, Thai Tribal Crafts Fair Trade, Y.Development, and SOAP-n-SCENT.

To celebrate Chef Alexandre Demard winning Iron Chef Thailand; there was a special ‘Iron Chef Exclusive Dinner’ at Oxygen Dining Room, X2 Chiang Mai Riverside Resort. Chef Alexandre Demard was joined by Consultant Michelin-starred chef Nicolas Isnard.
