On May 22, over 200 volunteers cleared and helped revive 23 dams, along with help from the 7th Infantry Division and the Doi Suthep – Pui National Park officials.

The Huay Kaew River has 300 dams along its course.

Leaves, rubbish and soil was dug out of the dams, in order to prevent flooding. The dams need to be able to hold around 100,000 cubic metres of water, but also able to let water flow at a fast rate during heavy rainfall.
