CityNews – Local villagers in Baan Pa Tueng Noi in Doi Saket have all signed a petition to oppose the construction of a waste factory in the area.
On November 9, Thong Puangsen, a representative of the village gave the petition to the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organisation which had offered a private company the opportunity to manage a new waste collection and separation factory.
Over 200 families in the area have agreed that they do not want the factory in the area.
They fear the factory will cause air pollution and bad smells that may affect their health.
Villagers also worry that if the factory build goes ahead, there could be even more problems in the future if it gets cancelled.
