Urban Search and Rescue Training for Military and Officials

CityNews – The military and officials from nine different institutes in Chiang Mai will be trained in Urban Search and Rescue by the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Regional Centre (DPMRC 10, Lampang) in an effort to improve emergency responses to earthquakes and other natural disasters.

The training in Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) aims to integrate rescue networks and disaster mitigation teams to prepare for real situations, including collapsed buildings from earthquakes and similar serious disasters.

The training will span three days in Chiang Mai city.

Outdoor training will take place in Doi Saket on June 2.

The director of the DPMRC 10, Mr Komsan, said that earthquakes happen both inside and outside of the country, and has worried residents.

The training is part of a wider plan to prepare many sectors in dealing with earthquakes and similar disasters as they cannot be predicted.

The training will develop skills, knowledge, and understanding in military and official organisations so that they rescue efforts will become more effective, reducing loss of lives and assets.
