Two Dead After Bike Hits Car After Jumping Red Light

CityNews – A Shan husband and wife died after they allegedly jumped a red light and crashed into the side of a car at the 700th Anniversary Stadium junction at around 10.30pm on July 22.

Police from the Chang Pueak police station and rescue teams were called to the scene where 30-year-old Mr Sai Lon and his wife were lying on the road after being hit by a car. His wife died instantly from the collision, and Mr Sai Lon passed away after being rushed to hospital.

After interviewing the owners of the car, a couple in their sixties, police determined that the car was turning towards Chiang Mai City Hall when the motorcycle jumped a red light and crashed into the side of their bronze Toyota Vios.

There were many witnesses to the scene, who also claim the bike jumped a red light.

Family members and friends of the casualties arrived on the scene in tears. They expressed that the casualties worked in a construction site in Jet Yod area, and the couple has a young child who still needs support.

Police have said they will check with CCTV cameras to confirm the witness’s stories and have invited the parties involved to come for further questioning.
