At around 5am January 11, a 36-year-old man was found dead at the Chiang Mai Bus Terminal 2 (Arcade). According to CCTV footage, the man fell asleep at 2.35am while waiting for a bus to Lampang. He was believed to be drunk and police believe he died due to sleeping through the cold weather without appropriate protection.

A 58-year-old Karen man was also discovered in a hut in a field in Galyani Vadhana district. Police believe the man had been dead for around two days and according to his neighbours, he often drank alcohol and lived alone in the hut. Police believe he also died in the cold.

At 7am on January 11, police were also alerted to the body of an 80-year-old American man who was discovered in his apartment in Chang Klan by a maid. There was no sign of foul play by police, but an official statement regarding the cause of death will be released after an autopsy.
