CityNews – September 27, Samak Donnapee, director of National Park Office, together with Dr Pornchai Jitnawasatian, president of Tourism Council of Chiang Mai, presided over an event marking the regeneration of Doi Inthanon flora, the lady’s slipper orchids and thousand year roses, in the hopes of raising a budget to establish a fund for Doi Inthanon conservation.

Director Samak said he was grateful to see so many organisations, from government and private sectors as well as tourism business sectors, realised the problems faced by Doi Inthanon, much of it caused by overuse – tourism, agriculture, as well as the change of climate change all of which affect wild life and rare local plants.

The fund will help protect and maintain biodiversity in Doi Inthanon, which is important to Chiang Mai and Thailand.
