Rain Causes Multiple Traffic Accidents

CityNews – A pickup truck en route from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai collided with a Chinese tour van after hydroplaning and spinning out of control on Chiang Rai road in Doi Saket, Chiang Mai on May 21st.

12 people were injured in the tour van, which was found lying on its side when rescue personal and law enforcement arrived at the scene.

Ten of the injured passengers were disperse to Doi Saket, Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai, and Nakornping Hospitals, while two of the injured passengers refused treatment.

The driver of the pickup was identited as 55-year-old Wichit Inchan of Mae On’s Huay Kaew sub-district, while the driver of the tour van was identified as 41-year-old Nikon Bidahok, an employee of Paradise Tour Chiang Mai Company.

A semi-truck was also involved in an accident on the same day, fortunately no one was injured. The truck lost control and swerved off of the road, causing traffic congestion on the Chiang Mai – Lampang superhighway in the Sarapee area of Chiang Mai. Highway and traffic police quickly cleared up the congestion.
