CityNews – Thai air travel has been under the microscope lately after the International Civil Aviation Organisation named Thai airlines a “significant safety concern”. Passengers, and even crew, on an Orient Thai Airlines flight last Saturday might agree with this latest criticism after their plane suffered engine failure and dropped from the sky at an alarming velocity, causing some passengers to suffer nose bleeds and loss of consciousness in spite of oxygen masks being deployed.

The flight, OX682, was taking passengers back home to Chengdu, China, after visiting Phuket. At some point in the journey the plane reportedly lost an engine and experienced a sudden loss of altitude. It’s reported that passengers on the plane feared for their lives, and even crew members were in tears, thinking the plane was going to crash land. The pilot eventually made an emergency landing in Kunming Province. Some passengers then took a flight on to Chengdu, while others were advised not to fly due to health concerns.
