CityNews – August 18, Paweena Hongsakul, president of Paweena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women, brought Mit and Ming, parents of a 3-year-old kindergarten student, Bow, to meet Police Major General Montree Sambunnanon, commander of Chiang Mai Provincial Police, in order to follow up the progress of the case that the girl was assaulted by a school bus driver (name withheld) on the way home on July 27.
August 10, Mit and Ming contacted Paweena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women on Facebook to ask for justice for their daughter.
They had reported the crime to Sansai police, yet no progress has been made.
According to Ming, her husband works as a security guard and she is a housewife. She used to give her daughter a ride to the school and back home. However three months ago, they moved into a new house, so it was inconvenient for her to take her daughter to school. She decided to use the service of the school bus. On the evening in question, her daughter was the last student to get off the school bus. When she arrived home she told her mother that she had been assaulted twice by the driver who told her not to tell her parents or anyone else. Her daughter has been depressed and quiet ever since.
Ming added that after they informed the police, the driver was summoned for an enquiry, but denied all allegations. The school still allows the driver to work as usual. And now she doesn’t dare allow her daughter to go to the school anymore.
Paweena urged the police to issue an arrest warrant for the suspect in order to be prosecuted. She also contacted Chiang Mai Shelter for Children and Families to help work with the girl and her family.
