CityNews – December 22nd, around 100 people from Northern Peasant Federation (NPF) and the People’s Movement for a Just Society (P-move) joined together at the Three Kings Monument to ask the Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the government to solve land problems and stop reclaiming the forest which leaves many villagers with no land to work or displaced.
The group was led by Direk Kong-ngeon, leader of NPF.
The group’s four representatives, Kaew Khamti, Sukaew Fungfoo, Khamsai Panyamee, and Sombat Tuidong, intend to walk from Chiang Mai to Bangkok to meet the prime minister in person.
According to Direk, NPF and P-move have asked the government to solve inequality and injustice in society, especially land problems, which affects the life of farmers and the poor. Yet so far no progress has been made.
