It was also hoped that a resolution of the situation involving Anocha Panjoy would be discussed, but North Korea has yet to acknowledge her alleged kidnapping, according to Tomoharu Ebihara, president of The Association for the Rescue of North Korea Abductees (ARNKA). Anocha Panjoy is believed to have been kidnapped by the North Korean government while working in Macao in 1978, and was allegedly last seen in North Korea in 1989 by an American soldier. Anocha was 24 years old at the time of her disappearance and would be 61 today. Anocha Photo in NK

The mission to bring Anocha Panjoy home is spearheaded by her older brother, 69 year old Sukam Panjoy, who refuses to give up his fight, and is also supported by the The Association for the Rescue of North Korea Abductees ARNKA.

North Korea admitted to kidnappings in 2002, when Japan’s prime minister successfully freed five captives from the country.

At this time Japan believes that there may be as many as 100 people held captive in North Korea from 12 different countries.
