Multiple Mini Dams Being Built on Doi Suthep

CityNews – To celebrate its 720th anniversary, Chiang Mai is building a dam at Doi Suthep-Pui National Park for environmental conservation.

On May 4th, a group of officials and volunteers teamed up to also celebrate the 84th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, with Chiang Mai Deputy Governor Mongkol Suksai, Director of Forest Conservation Area 16, district administration and volunteers working together at Suthep-Pui National Park for environmental conservation.

Mongkol said that because of environment degradation, Chiang Mai’s been facing problems such as the population increase that affects deforestation, forest trespassing, using chemical fertilisers for agriculture and many more issues. These are affecting to economy and tourism of Chiang Mai. Multiple dams are being constructed in the Suthep-Pui National Park in order to better manage the water resources in the area.
