More Waterfalls (temporarily) Close

CityNews – Mae Klang and Mae Ya Waterfalls in Doi Inthanon National Park were closed this morning, due to flooding.

On September 14th, Doi Inthanon National ordered to closed Mae Klang Waterfall and Mae Ya Waterfalls due to concerns for the safety of tourists. The current depression in weather has led to large amounts of rainfall (13th-15th September) and authorities fear that accidents may occur. In addition, many village in Ban Luang Sub-District, Jomthong District were affected, with many villagers having to evacuate and move their belongings out of their homes.

Chiang Mai Governor, Prawin Chamniprasart has ordered all departments to watch out for flooding over the next 24 hours and to prepare contingency plans for any possible emergencies, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation are also monitoring the situation closely.

The Omkoi Radar Station have announced that there will be torrential rains in Omkoi, Doi Tao, Hod, Mae Chaem, Mae Wang, Samoeng, Mae Rim, Mae Taeng and Meang Chiang Mai District over the coming days.
