The incident began when Mae Rim police were informed that a pickup truck cut in front of a tour bus full of tourists from Srinakharinwirot University on the road stretching up to Doi Mon Jam, causing a quarrel between the drivers.

Changseng, the pickup truck’s driver, allegedly threatened the tour bus driver by firing a gun into the air. Police later traced Changseng to his home.

The police found Changseng’s pickup parked outside his house in Nong Hoi Mai village of Chiang Mai’s Mae Ram sub-district, close to Doi Mon Jam.

The police report that they asked permission to search Changseng’s pickup car, but were refused. He fired his gun at the police, wounding two officers. The other officers returned fire on Chanseng and shot him in the head. He then died in his truck.

According to local villagers, Changseng was a good person but had a quick temper.

Police examined his car and house, but found nothing illegal. Despite this, police believe Changseng must have had a reason not to let them examine his vehicle and are continuing their investigation.
