CityNews – A man sexually assaulted an elderly woman in San Pa Tong before stealing her jewellery and fleeing the scene.
The crime took place in Nam Bo Luang, San Pa Tong around 1am of July 9th. The suspect, who was later identified as Suchart ‘Nim’ Sukkasem, went out for a drink after work. When he was heading back home, he told police that he spotted the 78 year old victim walking by, noticing she was wearing gold. He then approached the victim and asked her where she lived before secretly following her to her home.
At the victim’s home, Suchart attacked the elderly woman, sexually assaulting her before stealing her jewellery and cash. The victim was left injured from the attack and asked neighbours for help after the man escaped.
Police arrested Suchart later that day where he confessed to the crime. His records show that he has been imprisoned for four years after being charged with robbery.
The victim suffered severe injuries in the attack and is now hospitalised. The recreation of the attach had to be stopped half way through by police after locals in the area descended in the scene, hurling abuse and attempting to attack Suchart.
The attacker awaits prosecution in police custody.
