CityNews – A Laotian woman was arrested on the border between Laos and Thailand last night, May 24, after trying to illegally enter the kingdom on a boat.
The arrest took place at Buck port in Wiang, Chiang Rai where officials discovered a boat crossing the Mekong River at night.
35-year-old Laoatian, Morn Intapan, was arrested at the scene, on the Thai side of the border.
She was also found to be carrying 400,000 US Dollars (around 14 million baht), which has now been seized.
Morn has been taken to Chiang Khong Immigration Office where she will be prosecuted for not entering Thailand at a designated border crossing and for trying to smuggle foreign currency valued over 20,000 US Dollars into the kingdom without informing customs.
