Pornthep Charoenseubsakul, Head of the Doi Inthanon National Park, said that his focus this year has been in convenience of access and safety, his team having done much work to make sure that tourists have the most enjoyable and safe experiences. There are numerous tourist information centres servicing both Thai and foreign visitors.

Pornthep said that the temperatures have dropped dramatically and the mountain is very cold now with spectacular views, and this is already drawing large numbers of tourists.

Due to numerous accidents in the past, there will be an increase of danger signsplaced at all waterfalls and on dangerous trails and roads.

There are also signs leading to new tourist attractions such as Hmong or Karen villages which have recently opened up for tourism. There are virgin forests with new or improved trails to visit as well as upgraded visitors centres.

There will also be a special promotion for Thai nationals only from now until the end of the year with half price entrance fees between Mondays and Fridays.
