There are 19 official hill tribes in the Chiang Mai province.

At the press conference earlier this week, there were several performances displaying tribe culture, and sought to promote these tribes within the tourism sector in order to develop cultural knowledge within the industry and build up knowledge and understandings between hill tribes and other community’s way of life correctly.

The “Charm of Hill Tribes” event will take place on June 5 – 9 at the Chiang Mai International Convention and Exhibition Center. It will included cultural performances, a showcase of traditional hill tribe products, and tourism based initiatives to promote the hill tribe way of life.
