Mongkol said that the Northern Meteorological Center has warned that from July to August, there will be heavy rain due to the southwest monsoon that covers the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand.

In addition, this week a tropical cyclone will pass the Philippines and grow in the South China Sea, which will affect the weather patterns in Northern Thailand.

Mongkol has ordered local officers to urgently organise repair work on drains and canals in Chiang Mai to further prevent flooding.
