Five Drug Mules Arrested After Sting Operation

CityNews – A man was arrested yesterday, May 20, after a series of sting operations ended in five arrests and 1.5million yaba pills seized.

36-year-old Sanchai Laoyang from Mae Taeng was arrested after police found 200,000 yaba pills in his pickup truck.

The pills and his veichle were seized by police.

Police recieved a tip-off that a Hmong mule would be passing through Chiang Mai’s Keelek sub-district.

The man admitted to smuggling drugs where he would transfer to another person on Liang Muang road.

He told police he would be paid more than 10,000 but less than 100,000 for the transfer.

After talking with the man, police were able to arrest more mules in Samkamphaeng later that day and seized over 1,300,000 yaba pills.

Police are using information gathered to trace the commanding gang in Bangkok.

Police said that over five people were arrested on drug smuggling charges and a formal press release will be issued in Bangkok at a later date.
