Overseas Americans to Gather on Sept 27 to Cheer on Hillary Clinton

(Bangkok, September 26, 2016) – Democrats Abroad Thailand (DAT), the local chapter in Thailand of the US Democrat Party, is holding debate watching parties for the first Presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Ubon Ratchatani. Given the time difference from the US, taped versions of the debate will be shown at gatherings of US Democrats on the evening of September 27 in Thailand.
“As the polls tighten in the US, Americans in Thailand are getting excited by this year’s Presidential race, and we’re hearing from hundreds of US Democrats here about how they can help Hillary and stop Trump,” said Phil Robertson, Chairman of Democrats Abroad Thailand. “We expect hundreds of Americans will come out to cheer on Hillary Clinton on September 27, and we’ll be helping them register to vote and get their absentee ballots. Democrats Abroad Thailand is committed to ensuring every overseas American’s voice is heard loud and clear in this year’s election.”
“Democrats Abroad Thailand wants as many overseas Americans as possible vote in November, and we’ve got the one-stop registration service at VoteFromAbroad.org to make that happen,” Robertson added. “Americans with questions about how to get registered and get involved should attend these parties, listen to the debates, and have fun with friends while also participating in our democracy.”

In Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pattaya, there will be trained volunteers manning tables with computers using the Democrats Abroad on-line voter registration system, VoteFromAbroad.org, to help Americans to register to vote. Since voter registration deadlines for most states are in late September to mid-October, many Americans still have a chance to get registered to vote.
“Overseas Americans have shown time and time again that they care greatly about who will be our next President. As will be clear in the debate, Hillary Clinton is really the only serious choice,” said Robertson. “These debate parties will show the spirit and camaraderie shared by Americans far from home but still connected by issues and concerns about how our country is governed.”
