CityNews – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) told press today that cyclists in the capital will need to posses a licence in a ‘long-term measure to prevent road accidents’, according to The Nation.

Following several high profile cases involving cyclists being killed by drivers on Thailand’s roads, a focus on cyclists has made its way into the media and occupied many discussions on how to prevent such events re-occurring.

Following the death of three cyclists last week in Chiang Mai, the BMA is also encouraging other administrations outside of its control to follow suit.

Licences will be issued to all cyclists and the BMA also is proposing an age restriction for cyclists using roads.
