Chiang Mai Airport Welcomes Chinese During ‘Golden Week’

CityNews – October 1st, Group Captain Wisut Chantana, director of Chiang Mai International Airport, together with executives and employees as well as representatives from Tourism Authority of Thailand and other offices involved, welcomed passengers flying from Kunming in accordance to “Golden Week,” an extra-long public holiday in China.

Passangers received souveniers and were welcome with Thai dances and instrument recitals.

The terminal was also decorated for the special occasion.

There are now 10 airlines connecting Thailand to China. These include Thai Air Asia, Dragon, China Eastern, June Yao Airline, Hongkong Express Airlines, Air China, China Southern, Shandong Airlines, Spring Airlines and Sichuan Airlines.

There are around 4,000 passengers flying from China Daily, which is a 90 percent increase compared to last year.

Group Captain Wisut believes that throughout 2015, there will be 1.15 million Chinese passengers traveling through Chiang Mai International Airport, 77 percent more people when compared to last year’s.
