Akha Ama La Fattoria

Now that Songkran is over and the seasons merge into that hot and humid and rainy state, it’s time you start planning your outings and usually it’s good to head for air conditioning.

With almost all the tourists gone until September it’s your chance to explore the old city and re-find its forgotten charm!

Akha Ama La Fattoria is right on Rachadamnoen road (Sunday walking street) and just a stones throw away from Wat Phra Sing. If you haven’t been to either cafe now’s the time to visit.

Coffee – The usual great cup of coffee can be found here and the staff at this branch have so much energy (possibly due to all the coffee they drink) that each cup is perfection. For me their silky cappuccinos are the best but with the special menu – black juice and coffee jelly – perhaps it’s time I try something new too!

Cafe – Inside La Fattoria the air is cool with a hint of coffee. The lights are dimmed, not the best for reading but good for hiding away from the outside heat, checking emails and getting cosy with friends. The outside area has raised stools to watch the street below and in the mornings or afternoons a great place to watch the world go by. A nice hip cafe that’s definitely worth a visit!

Other – Despite this being in a prime location for tourists I often see familiar CM community faces. Most people who live in Chiang Mai know about Akha Ama and anyone living near the old city have made this cafe part of their morning routine. There is a fair amount of tourists who pop in for a pick me up and I always think – “what luck to stumble into Akha Ama”!

And try the pie!
