7th Field Artillery Battalion to Host Charity Muay Thai Fundraiser

CityNews – On Tuesday, 22nd April, the 7th Field Artillery Battalion announced their plans to host charity Muay Thai bouts at Phra Pinklao Camp in Mae Rim on Thursday, 1st May (National Labour Day) as a fundraiser to build a museum.

Major Pongpan Somkhan-ngern, Joint Operations Leader and Instructor of 7th Field Artillery Battalion, told reporters that Phra Pinklao Camp in Mae Rim has organized the first charity Muay Thai competition called “Muay Dee Withi Thai Sri Chiang Mai” to raise funds to build the King Pinklao Museum. The museum will educate children, students, and Chiang Mai residents about Thai history along with information about King Pinklao (King Rama IV’s brother)’s role in the Thai military. He was known as the “Father of Thai Artillery.”

The first Phra Pinklao Camp Muay Thai competitions will be held on 1st May at the temporary boxing ring at the 7th Field Artillery Battalion. There will be 10 bouts by the country’s top competitors, and the first bout starts at 6 p.m.
