65 Workers Arrested in Mae Taeng

CityNews – On August 25th, 65 Cambodian workers in the Mae Taeng were arrested for living and working in Thailand without proper permission.

Officials also arrested five Thai employers for hiring the group of immigrant workers and seized four pickup trucks that were being used to transport the immigrant workers.

Officials were informed by locals that many Cambodian workers had been seen working in Mae Taeng area, which lead to the inspection of the operation and eventually to the arrests.

According to the Thai employers, they had hired the immigrant workers to harvest longans in the area and paid them 300 baht each per day.

They await prosecution.
