CityNews – Chiang Mai runners held a memorial run for Saman Kunan, the former Thai Navy SEAL who died in the Tham Luang cave after delivering air canisters to the 12 trapped football teens and their coach.

On July 9th, over 200 hundred runners in Chiang Mai gathered at Tha Pae Gate for a race around the moat in remembrance of Saman Kunan, the former Thai Navy SEAL who died at Tham Luang Nang Non cave, Chiang Rai. The race started at 6pm and completed a 6.2km route around the moat. The group also raised funds for Saman’s family in honour of his duty.

Walee Moonkian, one of the participants, told CityNews that when the news broke that the officer has died from the mission, their local running club instantly began planning an activity to hold in Saman’s honour.
