Staff were to believe that a 40 seat van had crashed and there were many deaths and injuries

According to Assistant Professor Dr Narain Chotirosniramit, deputy director of the Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital, Chiang Mai has been prpeparing for such grizzly instances since last February. Motorcyclists on the other hand have been encouraged to wear helmets, and residents have been encouraged to respect traffic rules.

During the end of last year (New Year celebration), Chiang Mai had the highest number of deaths, compared to other provinces in the country.

As lots of tourists are expected to come to Chiang Mai during Songkran this year, the number of accidents might even increase, say authorities.

More doctors, nurses, and medical personnel have been assigned to work in the emergency rooms for 24 hours to get ready to help injured people from tomorrow, April 11, onwards.

Two more emergency operating rooms are also to be added.

The problem that the hospital faces every year is blood, of which there is not enough in storage for patients, added Dr Narai,

Those interested in donating blood to help injured people can contact Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital’s Sripat Building, first floor.
