137 Pillars House’s new bar is the appropriately eponymously named Jack Bain’s Bar, after the last owner of the house the hotel sits on. A bon vivant, a raconteur, and according to General Manager Anne Arrowsmith, “a loveable rascal, a great storyteller who enjoyed his drink and the company of ladies.”
Jack Bain, of the Bain family, one of the longest-standing British families in Chiang Mai, lived the life to the full. This bar is an homage to his legacy. Revamped, the bar retains all of the original wood carving details and accents of the old teak house, but has added modern elements including a sexy leather bar counter, luxe seatings and lighting, as well as a nod to Bain’s Scottish ancestry, in its subtle tartan designs.
