City7: Craft Beer Bars

As much as we all love Chang (right…?), sometimes a person requires a bit more hop in their step, and a bit more variety. Microbreweries are still illegal ’round these parts, but as Chiang Mai grows, so does its beer offerings, and today you can find all kinds of imported and craft brews throughout the city. Here are a few places to check out!

1. House of Beers

See and be seen at this hip new drinkery in the heart of Nimman, offering up imported pints (including Leffe and BrewDog) on draught and dozens of others by the bottle, with outdoor and rooftop seating.

2. Circlelifes

While the name and location have changed, it’s still beer o’clock at this little shop just south of the old city, where over a hundred kinds of imports can be purchased wholesale.

3. The Red Lion Pub

This old expat standby, located inside the Night Bazaar, offers a range of local and imported wallops, plus the best selection of cider in town. Live sports on weekends and a full menu of Thai and international food.

With a whopping 16 imports on tap, from Boddington Cream of Manchester, to Erdinger Dark, this friendly corner pub is a great spot for swilling pints and munching on a wide selection of tasty eats.

5. Neighborhood

This Nimman standby is always packed with young Thais enjoying live music, live football and a huge selection of brews. There’s Guinness on tap and a beer buffet every Monday though Wednesday night from 5 – 8 p.m., just 139 baht!
