2016 Round Square Conference

Round Square is a worldwide network of innovative schools in 40 countries across five continents. One of its founding schools in the 1960s is Aiglon College in Switzerland, today an international boarding school for boys and girls ages 9-18 from over 60 nationalities and offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma.

In 2015 United World College in Singapore hosted the global Round Square Conference. In October 2016 Aiglon will host 85 schools for a week-long international conference on the theme, the Journey that Makes Us. It has been 24 years that the global conference had last been organised in Switzerland.

Each school picks its six student delegation from among the best in their institute. The Chairman of the conference is King Constantine of Greece, cousin of Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth’s consort and Queen Sophia of Spain. Other speakers will include his Highness the Aga Khan as well as notable alumni from Aiglon including Martin Gikunda of Kenya among others who are featured.

Aiglon078Round Square’s principles are based on IDEALS which when spelled out include Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service. Each day of the conference is dedicated to these principles.
