Wow or whoa may be two expressions falling from your lips when entering this exotic Aladdin’s cave of a shop. Existing adverts displaying just one piece of furniture from the retailers don’t do justice to the array of fabulous ethnic art, antiques and furniture on offer, you must really see it for yourself. The main shop building has tons of exquisite pieces, decorative or practical, for any type of room, giving it style and interest. The company import from across the world, so you won’t find any of the typical Thai dancers and elephants painted on plates. On Citylife’s last visit to the wonderland, we saw Mexican cushion covers, South American bowls, Chinese cabinets and wall hangings from Tanzania not to mention the Peruvian textiles, marble hand basins and Tibetan door panels! The shop has 30 years of experience in dealing with art and antiques, supplying leading world architects and interior designers, as well as preeminent dealers in the global design community. Crossroads Asia travels to every corner of the earth to seek out individual and inspirational works. There are a total of five showrooms and one large warehouse, which elegantly displays all the furniture and art. All staff are English speaking.

We are potty about this longstanding pottery shop. In this neck of the woods; Mengrai Kilns is known as the connoisseurs of ceramics. They produce the highest in quality of Celadon, ancient Chinese pottery made from high-fired stoneware. In Chiang Mai it is made unique by being covered with a glaze from the ashes of locally found woods. In store you will come across a wide range of designs, from the smallest trinkets, egg cups or tea sets to large grand vases. One of their best selling products is their Christmas nativity sets. Citylife was very impressed by the contemporary mugs and plates that bring feeling and life into the very use of them. Forget Ikea, this is the real thing; pieces which have been handmade by true craftsmen. This shop is somewhere you must take guests visiting Chiang Mai, the pieces make perfect gifts to take home and should last a lifetime.
